How To Perform
- 1 Clean or lift a kettlebell to the rack position: handle in your fist, bell resting against the back of your forearm, elbow tucked near your ribs.
- 2 Brace your core, squeeze your glutes and keep your wrist straight.
- 3 Press the bell straight overhead until your arm is fully extended beside your ear.
- 4 Lower it under control back to the rack position, then repeat on the other side.
Form Cues
- ✓ Keep your wrist stacked over your elbow so the bell does not pull your hand back.
- ✓ Squeeze your glutes and ribs down to stop your lower back arching.
- ✓ Press in a straight line close to your face — the bell should finish over your shoulder, not in front of it.
Common Mistakes
- ✗ Leaning sideways or arching the back to finish the press.
- ✗ Letting the wrist bend back under the weight of the bell.
- ✗ Pressing the bell forward instead of straight up.
Progressive overload is the engine of muscle growth. Track your weights and aim to add small increments weekly. For Kettlebell Shoulder Press, this means gradually increasing load, volume (sets × reps), or decreasing rest periods over time.
